Whether you are a new or seasonal homeschooler, taking the time to read some books just for homeschool parents can be a great way to refresh and rejuvenate yourself (and possibly learn some new ways to improve your homeschool experience)! I’ve also learned that it really helps inspire your kids to read more when they actually see US reading too.
Do you need some book ideas? Keep scrolling to see some of my favorite books below and then a few additional ones that I haven’t read yet, but plan to this year!
Summer Book Club for Moms
Would you like to join me and some other homeschool mamas as we read together this summer? Summer is usually the time that I find myself reading the most. I have a little bit more free time and it’s so relaxing to read outside in the sunshine while the kids play nearby.
So I thought it would be fun if I put together a summer reading log for us moms (your older kids could use it too)! We’ll have a place inside my FB group to share any quotes, tidbits, or thoughts from what we read each day.
I’ll also be giving away some prizes at the end of the summer! Submit your completed log by August 31st to get entered into the $25 Amazon gift card drawing and/or engage throughout the summer in our FB group for a chance to receive a September Activity Bundle for free ($15-$17 value).
Want to join me? Add yourself to my FB group here.
Can’t wait to have you join in and to get to know each other over the summer! Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post to download and print the summer reading log too! It has space to track your reading list (up to 10 books) and your daily reading for 13 weeks (which will cover every week from June through August).

#1. Homeschool Bravely by Jamie Erickson
I’ve read this book before and REALLY enjoyed it! It’s been a while though, so I’m excited to reread it this year!
#2. Call of the Wild + Free by Ainsley Arment
When my youngest was very little and going to feeding therapy once a week, I would listen to this book during the hour-long drive over to his appointment. Such an inspirational read! I highly recommend it!
#3. The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart
Another one of my favorites! This book really sparked some creativity in how I homeschool and how I set up my space.
#4. Awaking Wonder by Sally Clarkson
Here is another great option, especially if you prefer to listen to audiobooks! I listened to this also on those long winter drives over to my son’s feeding therapy.
#5. Better Together by Pam Barnhill
Another great option with lots of valuable information, especially about morning baskets!
#6. The Unhurried Homeschooler by Durenda Wilson
This is a very short book, but it provides a great overall view of homeschooling. I recommend this for newer homeschoolers.
#7. The Brave Art of Motherhood by Rachel Marie Martin
This is NOT a homeschool book, but I thought it was a touching and honest book about motherhood. It’s definitely going back on my book list for this year! Rachel is a fellow Her View From Home contributor and has such a beautiful way of conveying her thoughts.
Additional Books
Here are some extra books that I have not read yet but am adding to my book list for this year!
More Than Enough by Kara Stephenson
