Whew!
What can I say?
I’m honestly very excited to get past this election and find out who will become the next president. I don’t know about you, but I’m 100% over all these ads! I feel like this whole election has so much anxiety and fear wrapped into it…it’s hard mentally to be reminded of it constantly with constant ads when I’m listening to music, on YouTube, etc.
However, there are some good things about this year!
This will be the first election that all three of my kids are interested in what’s going on. My older two are asking a lot more questions this time around. Even my kindergartner is curious about what is going on!
We’ve always taken them with us to vote so that they can see what it is like. I wanted to do something a little extra this time, especially with how many questions they’ve been asking.
Starting today, we will dive into learning more about the election process! I wanted to make it fun and hands-on, so I came up with a few ideas and printables. I found some videos that we will be using as well. If you could use any of these, you can download it at the bottom of this blog post (free for a limited time!)

10 Election Day Activities for Kids
#1. What Is a President?
Most kids know we have a President, but do they wonder about what they do exactly? Here is a great video that explains more about the job of a President!

This is a great video that explains the process of becoming the president and focuses on the electoral college.
#3. 2024 Electoral College Map Coloring Page
I made this for my youngest to use in case he wanted to feel included! I wouldn’t be surprised if my older two want to use this too. Kids can color each state red or blue, as the states are won. This is part of the mini-activity pack that you can download at the bottom of this blog post.
#4. 2024 Electoral College Map Tracker
Here is a tracker for older kids to use as they pay attention to the electoral votes. There are two versions; one that includes a projection column and one that does not. They can color in space with red or blue as they go!
#5. Race to 270! Tracker
If your kids want a more visual way to see the progress of each candidate, they can color in each block as they earn 10 more electoral votes!
#6. If I Were President…Writing + Art Printable
Use this printable for a simple way to inspire your kids to think about what they would do as president! They can paint or color the page as well (make sure to print out on cardstock if painting).
#7. Create a Future Voter Paper Crown
I thought this would be a fun activity for younger kids to get excited about voting in the future! They can color and create their own paper crown here (there are SIX options). Some of the options include filling out the year that they will be able to vote in their presidential election!
#8. Future Voter Crayon Resist Art Project
Pick the appropriate page for each of your students and print it out on cardstock. They will trace the lines with a black crayon (to keep the paint in place) and then paint with watercolor paint. If you want to add on a tape resist technique, have them put one or two strips of tapes across the words to add another aspect! They will peel off the tape once it is dry.
#9. US President Trivia
Here is a fun video with some interesting facts about past presidents!
#10. Go on a Virtual White House Tour
If your kids are curious about where the president lives, here is a virtual tour of the White House!
