Day #5. All About My City Day!
Here is some of what we are planning to do today! 🙂 Did you want to download and print out everything for this month? You now can! Grab the Me & My World Activity Bundle here!
This 98-page PDF bundle comes with every printable you’ll need for this month PLUS extra printables like a master supply list, suggested reading list, themed snack photos, grocery list, and a teacher guide for each day! It is great for saving time by downloading and printing everything all at once! You’ll also receive a Me & My World bookmark and punch card for your kids to use as they move through each themed day. 🥰
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: In the past, I’ve offered most items for free for 24 hours, on each themed day. I will still be giving away some freebies here and there, but most printables will stay exclusive for those who purchase the monthly bundle.
Why this change? There have been some concerns with a few individuals taking advantage of everything in my store being free at one point. For that reason, I need to make a change and protect my shop and whichever activities I did spend a lot of my time on creating. Thank you for understanding and for helping support me as I put time into making these themes! If you are unable to purchase the monthly bundle, I would definitely still love to have you tag along and use the snack ideas, YouTube educational video links, and read aloud book links! And as I mentioned above, there will still be occasional freebies too! ❤️
#1. Make a Brochure for Your City
Print out this brochure template double-sided, preferably on cardstock. You’ll fold the brochure and your students can color/fill out to create a beautiful brochure for their city.
#2. A Day in the City Reading Comprehension
Print out this worksheet and follow along with the directions for a themed reading comprehension and writing activity.
#3. My City/Town Flipbook Page
Have your student fill out the “My City/Town” page of their flipbook.
Snack
Go out to a favorite local spot or make a recipe that features ingredients that your town or area is known for.
Books
(Note: Some of the books this month are new to me, so be sure to skim it beforehand if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today’s books are: “My City Speaks” and “Little Critter: This Is My Town”
If you couldn’t grab these books from the library or store, here are some read-aloud options on YouTube!
Do You Have More Time? Here Are Some Extra Ideas!
#1. Here is a short interactive video from Kids Academy!
#2. Dive a little more into learning about your type of community!
#3. Does your little one like singing along with songs? Here is a short little music video to go along with today!
#4. City Landmark STEM Model Building Activity
Provide your older student with materials like cardboard, clay, or recycled items to build models of famous landmarks or buildings in their city. They can paint and decorate their models to reflect the real landmarks.
I hope your students enjoyed today! If you need to print out the Me & My World Calendar still, go ahead and drop your email below so that I can send it right over!
