It’s Bring Your Elf to School Day!
Yes, we do the Elf on the Shelf. And yes, I wonder why I started it in the first place haha.
However, it is what it is – my kids absolutely LOVE their elves, so I really don’t mind doing it. Most days 😆
BTW – if you don’t do Elf on the Shelf, just turn today into a “Bring Your Favorite Toy to School Day” instead!

Day #10. Bring Your Elf to School Day!
Here is what we are planning to do on Thursday 🙂
Just a reminder that my kids are in 4th, 2nd, and PreK grades. If you have different ages and feel like what we are doing isn’t something your kids would be interested in, feel free to scroll below! I’ll add more activity ideas at the bottom of each blog post.
Activities
First and foremost, the kids will be setting their elves in a basket and bringing them with us as we do school. They had a blast doing this the last few years.
Today some of the things we’ll be doing are; making these Elf paper crowns, doing this Elf writing activity, going on an Elf treasure hunt (some of the ingredients for the cookies will be what they find at the end), and watching Elf as a family later tonight!
#1. Make an Elf Hat/Paper Crown
Instead of doing paper plate elves (like what I originally planned on), I made these Elf paper headbands for my kids to color or paint!
If your kids enjoyed the Silly Snowmen Hat (or didn’t get a chance to try those out), I’m sure they’ll enjoy this too!
These paper crowns come with silly ears that they’ll cut out and glue on after coloring and assembling their headbands.
There are four different design options to choose from too.
#2. “If I Were an Elf…” (Writing Activity)
I need to get my kids working more on their creative writing skills, so I decided to add this worksheet into today’s plan!
It includes a fun printable to help your child design their own Elf name too!
#3. Elf Scavenger Hunt
Using the printable below, cut out and hide these elf clues around the house. If you have an Elf, you could leave the first clue in his/her hands for them to find in the morning.
You could also put some of the treats you’ll need to make the Elf cookies in a bag and hide it under the Christmas tree, for them to find at the end of the scavenger hunt!

Snack
Today I’ll be making Buddy the Elf cookies! Well, my version of it anyways. With the kids fighting off a head cold this week, I don’t want to load them up with extra sugar. So, I’ll be doing a basic healthy no bake cookie with a few sweets thrown in (M&Ms, sprinkles, and mini marshmallows) to mimic the real thing!
Here is the original recipe with Chow Mein noodles. When I’ve made this in the past for the kids, I just cut the recipe in half so that we don’t have many cookies left over. They are SO sweet! But the kids always have a blast making them.
Books
(Note: I only skimmed these books, so be sure to skim it also if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today we’ll be watching “Elf” as a family later!
We’ll also be reading, “The Littlest Elf” by Brandi Dougherty and “How to Catch an Elf” by Adam Wallace.
