I actually used to be so scared of butterflies when I was a kid. My kids are a little timid around them still (probably thanks to their genetics – sorry guys! 😂), so I’m hoping today will help them appreciate and enjoy butterflies much more (and get past any small fears)!
Are you new to these monthly themes? No worries! You can join our FB group and print out the April School Calendar to get started! Just scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!
Keep reading below for Butterfly Day activities and printables!
Day #4. Butterfly Day!
Here is what we have planned for today! 🙂 Did you want to download and print out everything for this month all at once? You now can! Grab the Spring School Activity Pack here!
This 81-page PDF bundle comes with every printable you’ll need for this month PLUS extra printables (Baby Animals Notebook for Kids, Baby Animal Fact Cards, & Spring Vocabulary Cards). It is great for saving time by downloading and printing everything all at once! You’ll also receive a Spring School bookmark and punch card for your kids to use as they move through each themed day. 🥰
Activity Ideas
IMPORTANT NOTE: Most of these printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only during Butterfly Day! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do Butterfly Day later in the week – that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! 🥰❤️
#1. Butterfly Symmetry Worksheet
Download this printable and print. Grab a pencil and complete the other half of these butterflies! Color them in when finished (optional).
#2. Buy or Start a Live Butterfly Kit!
Use a kit (this is the one I ordered for us!) for your student to watch their own butterflies grow. I’ve always wanted to do this with my kids, so I can’t wait to see what they think!
#3. Butterfly Coffee Filter Craft
To get started making these, place a coffee filter on top of a gallon-sized plastic bag. Use washable markers to create designs on it. Mist with water. Allow it to dry. Use a clothespin and pipe cleaner as the body.
#4. Read & Hang Up Vocabulary Cards
Did you grab the Spring School bundle? You can read the vocabulary words for today and color in the word (optional). Hang up the vocabulary words on the wall or display board. The vocabulary words for today are: Butterfly and Caterpillar.
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
Today we’ll be reading, “A Butterfly is Patient” by Dianna Hutt Aston and “My Oh My, A Butterfly!” by Tish Rabe.
However, if you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are the read aloud options on YouTube!
PS: If you have an older child, I recommend having them read 1-2 chapters from, “Charlotte’s Web” today!
