I don’t know about you, but this month has just flown by over here! It’s hard to believe that today is our LAST day of Christmas School 2023!
So, our most favorite day at our house is anything to do with Jesus being born…which is why I reserved Christmas Star Day for last. ❤️
Feel free to adjust or add anything for today based on what your family believes and/or your favorite traditions for celebrating Jesus being born.
Did you miss Christmas School 2023? No worries! You can still join our Christmas School FB group here 🙂 It is full of the most wonderful mommas! I’m starting to put together a Winter Animal School for January – more details to follow soon inside this group!

Day #16. Christmas Star Day!
Here is what we are planning to do on Friday (our last day of Christmas School 2023!) 🙂
Just a reminder that my kids are in 4th, 2nd, and PreK grades. If you have different ages and feel like what we are doing isn’t something your kids would be interested in, feel free to scroll below! I’ll add more activity ideas at the bottom of each blog post.
Activities
#1. Make Some Popsicle Stick Stars!
I always liked making these as a kid for our Christmas tree!
Kids can use colored popsicle sticks or just paint these after they put them together. Use stickers and glitter to glam them up after everything dries!
#2. Do a Toothpick Star Experiment!
All you need is a plate, toothpicks, a dropper, food coloring, and water for this experiment!
You can watch the video below for how to do this. It won’t happen as fast as the video shows (it sped up the process), but as the wood absorbs the water, the toothpicks will move more into the shape of a star and grow!
#3. Make a Star Headband
If your kids like making these or if you haven’t had the chance to make a headband yet, try these!
Snack
Snack time today will be apple star sandwiches! 😊
Slice some apples and use a small star cookie cutter OR a knife to cut the shape of a star in the middle of the top slice. Slather some peanut butter on the bottom slice and place the other apple slice (the one with the star) on top. Done!
You could also make sandwiches and cut them into the shape of a star. I think it would be yummy to do peanut butter, apple slices, a little granola, and a drizzle of honey inside a star shaped sandwich!
Books
(Note: I only skimmed these books, so be sure to skim it also if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today we’ll be reading, “They Followed the Star” by A.E. Dingee and also the “The Christmas Star” by Beatrix Potter.
I also added a YouTube video about how there is a star in every apple (this isn’t necessarily a Christmas story, but it’s a cute story about how there is a star in every apple). At the end, the reader cuts open an apple to show the star inside. 😊
Here are the YouTube Read Aloud links for these books 🙂
Do You Have More Time? Here Are Some Extra Ideas!
#1. Watch “The Nativity Story” as a family! (Or your favorite adaptation about the birth of Jesus)
#2. Do you have little ones? Learn, “Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star” for music class today! 😊
#3. Draw the Christmas star shining over the nativity scene with Art for Kids Hub.
I hope you guys have had a wonderful month doing Christmas School together! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!! ❤️
