I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas Sweater Day already!
My kids love to dress up and wear special stuff for the holidays, so I figured they would like to have a day dedicated to their Christmas Sweaters!
Keep reading below for activity ideas!
Are you visiting for the first time? You are still able to grab my free Christmas school calendar! You can download it below and you can also join our Christmas School FB group here 🙂 It is full of the most wonderful mommas!
Each special day on the calendar will get it’s own blog post – full of activity directions, printables, YouTube audiobook stories, and anything else to help make this EASY on you. Because the whole point of Christmas School is to pick what your kids would enjoy the most and then just have fun together. Don’t plan to do EVERYTHING (unless you guys are feeling ambitious that day 😉 ).

Day #8. Christmas Sweater Day!
Here is what we are planning to do on Tuesday 🙂
Just a reminder that my kids are in 4th, 2nd, and PreK grades. If you have different ages and feel like what we are doing isn’t something your kids would be interested in, feel free to scroll below! I’ll add more activity ideas at the bottom of each blog post.
Activities
For today, I made this Ugly Christmas Sweater poem activity. This is what we’ll be doing first!
And then I’ll set out various craft items and this Ugly Christmas Sweater Activity for my kids to paint and create!
I also made this Christmas Sweater Symmetry worksheet; in case they are wanting one more thing to do 🙂
#1. Ugly Christmas Sweater Poem Activity
I made this fill-in-the-blank poem for my oldest. I’m not sure if this will be a little too advanced for my 2nd grader or not, but we’ll try it out with him and see what he thinks! Maybe I’ll be surprised by how easy he gets it 😊
Your kids will draw a line from the word bank to the missing words in the poem!
I also included an answer key. If your kids are too little for this activity, you could always just print out the answer key and read the poem to them. 😊
#2. Ugly Christmas Sweater Painting/Craft
Here are 5 different Ugly Christmas Sweater printables! Have your child choose one to print out and let them go crazy painting it. The crazier and weirder, the better!
Once it is dry, they could glue on anything else to make it crazier (pompoms, glitter, etc)!
#3. Do a Christmas Sweater Symmetry Worksheet
Want a math activity for today? My daughter loves to do these, so I decided to make it and add it last minute! There are 10 different worksheet options to choose from 😊
Snack
We will (most likely) be making some “healthy-ish” sugar cookies, cut in the shape of sweaters, and I’ll let the kids decorate!
Another idea would be to cut out their sandwiches in the shape of a sweater and decorate with raisins, nuts, etc. I’ve never attempted sweater pancakes before, but that might possibly be a good idea to try too!
Books
(Note: I only skimmed these books, so be sure to skim it also if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today we’ll be reading “The Christmas Sweater” written by Glenn Beck. We’ll also read “The Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellion” by Jordan Birch & Chris Boyd.
Here are the YouTube Read Aloud links for these books 🙂
Do You Have More Time? Here Are Some Extra Ideas!
