Welcome to DAY FIVE of the Holy Week theme! Today is focused on what happened at the cross and remembering what Jesus did for us.
Are you new to these monthly themes? No worries! You can join our FB group and print out the March School Calendar to get started! Just scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!
Keep reading below for Cross Day activities and printables!
Day #15. Cross Day!
Here is some of what we have planned for today! 🙂 Did you want to download and print out everything for this week all at once? You can! Grab the Holy Week Activity Pack here!
This pack comes with extra printables (Holy Week Journal, Cards, & Read & Color Bible Reading Plan) and are great for saving time by downloading and printing everything all at once…plus these themes will be organized, especially if you’d like to use any of this again for next year! 🩷
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: These printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only during Cross Day! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do Cross Day later in the week – that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! 🥰❤️
#1. Cross Day Silhouette Art Project
Download this printable and print. Have your students paint a background for the crosses and then cut out the crosses silhouette to glue onto the paper once it dries.
#2. Stained Glass Cross Art Activity
Pick one of the two crosses and paint the stained-glass background with watercolors!
#3. Resurrection Garden
Did you need more time to finish your resurrection garden? I set aside extra time today to finish it, just in case it was needed.
Did you miss the video from yesterday? Here it is, if you didn’t get the chance to start your garden yesterday.
Snack
Today’s snack is a sugar cookie cross with a “stained glass” center using crushed jolly ranchers! Make sure to have two different sized cross cookie cutters on hand to make it easier. I didn’t have any, so I had to make these with a knife, which is doable for a few cookies, but definitely not the easiest especially if you’re making a lot!
Follow along to your favorite sugar cookie recipe. Form the dough into crosses and then cut out a cross shape inside. Carefully place on your baking sheet and then fill in the middle cross section with crushed jolly ranchers. Bake according to your sugar cookie recipe.
When you take these out, it might look like it didn’t work at first. When I first pulled these out, it looked like the jolly ranchers had melted into the dough. However, as the baked cookie cools, the jolly ranchers will harden and show up more.
Suggested Reading
Instead of books, I’ll be suggesting a scripture passage to read together.
Today’s suggested reading is Matthew 27:11-54.
Do You Have Extra Time? Here Are Some Ideas/Videos!
