Welcome to DAY TWO of the Holy Week theme! Today’s focus is the donkey who carried Jesus into Jerusalem. You can also discuss how Jesus went into the temple and turned over tables.
Are you new to these monthly themes? No worries! You can join our FB group and print out the March School Calendar to get started! Just scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!
Keep reading below for Donkey Day activities and printables!
Day #12. Donkey Day!
Here is some of what we have planned for today! 🙂 Did you want to download and print out everything for this week all at once? You can! Grab the Holy Week Activity Pack here!
This pack comes with extra printables (Holy Week Journal, Cards, & Read & Color Bible Reading Plan) and are great for saving time by downloading and printing everything all at once…plus these themes will be organized, especially if you’d like to use any of this again for next year! 🩷
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: These printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only during Donkey Day! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do Donkey Day later in the week – that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! 🥰❤️
#1. Silly Donkey Paper Crown/Headband
Grab this printable and print (cardstock will make for a sturdier crown!). Color, cut, and assemble according to the instructions.
#2. Donkey Handprint Keepsake Craft
Have your student trace their hand (or paint and stamp it) on a piece of cardstock and then choose a donkey face to add.
#3. Donkey Coloring Page with Scripture
Here is another printable option! You can print this out and let your kiddos color or print it out on cardstock and let them paint.
Snack
Today’s snack is a Nutter Butter donkey! You’ll need mini-marshmallows, raisins, sliced almonds, and banana to create the features. You could also cut a sandwich in the shape of a donkey face and use that instead of the Nutter Butter, for a healthier option.
I used the sliced almonds for the ears (just slide them into the Nutter Butter), slice of a banana and stretched out raisin for the mouth, and mini-marshmallows and raisins for the eyes.
Suggested Reading
Instead of books, I’ll be suggesting a scripture passage to read together.
Today’s suggested reading is John 15:1-17.
Do You Have Extra Time? Here Are Some Ideas/Videos!
Pick and choose any of the videos/activities below to learn more!
#1. Have your kids asked why Jesus picked a donkey to ride into Jerusalem on?
#2. Here is a cute donkey drawing tutorial! This is technically a Christmas video, but it is too adorable to not include for your kiddos that love to draw!
#3. Do you want a read aloud for today? This is long, but it’s a great option!
I hope that you and your kids had fun today! If you need to print out the March Calendar still, drop your email below and I’ll send it right over!
PS: Check back soon for my blog post about Jesus Day. This is a day that you can choose to either talk about how Judas betrayed Jesus or it can be a day to just focus on Jesus and some of your favorite stories from His time on earth (in case your kids are too young or sensitive to talk about Judas betraying Him yet)!
