This month has flown by so fast! It’s hard to believe that Monday will be April 22nd already!
And speaking of that date, are you celebrating Earth Day with your kids and/or students this year? Do you need a few ideas?
Here are some printables that I’ve made for my kids this year and some extra educational links as well!
Earth Day 2024 Activity Ideas
Did you know that you can grab my activity pack for Earth Day 2024 here (it has all of the printables that are mentioned below)!
You can also purchase the printables below individually! However, you’ll save 75% by grabbing the activity pack above. 🥰
#1. Earth Day Fact Cards
Print and laminate these cards to use as you teach your kids about what Earth Day is and why we celebrate it! I like to set these out on a wooden board (Montessori style), next to everything else I’ve gathered for the lesson. I also have liked flipping these over and putting them in a pile. I’ll then let my kids take turns picking one out to read aloud to everyone!
#2. Earth Day Watercolor Art Project (FREEBIE)
Grab this template here and help your child follow the directions to create some pretty watercolor artwork to celebrate Earth Day! There are two options depending on if you want, “Happy Earth Day” on the page or not.
#3. Earth Day Tape Resist Art Project (Includes Optional Writing Activity)
Print out this PDF onto cardstock and follow the instructions to put it together. This is a great process/tape resist art project with an optional short writing activity!
You’ll use washi tape and the blank heart template to first create a design!
Have your kids paint each section!
While the paint dries, have your child work on coloring (or painting) the heart-shaped earth and filling out their “Earth Day Promise”.
Peel off the paint!
Cut out and glue on the heart-shaped Earth, “Happy Earth Day”, and the “My Earth Day Promise” section. You’re done!
#4. SUPER FUN Earth Day Science Experiment
Have your kids ever done any Magic Milk experiments? Here is an “Earth Day twist” on this activity! Just download the teacher guide and worksheets here and follow the instructions to do this!
#5. Earth Day Journal Page
Print out this journal and use it to discuss Earth Day more and have your child write down their thoughts. There are journal pages for them to be reflective and think through what Earth Day entails and how we can take better care of our planet.
There is also a space on each page for them to draw something that goes along with the journal questions or thoughts.
#6. Earth Day Playdoh Mat
Print out this Earth Day playdough mat and grab some playdoh for your younger ones to get some hands-on learning about recycling and taking care of our Earth! I recommend laminating this for durability, if you can!
You could also use this as a simple coloring sheet as well!
#7. Earth Day Paper Crown
If you’d like a simple coloring project and a fun way to celebrate the day, grab this paper crown for your kids to assemble! There are five options to choose from!
#8. Earth Day Watercolor Art
Print out this PDF on cardstock and pick one of the two options for your child to paint!
#9. Earth Day Crossword Puzzle
Do your kids like crossword puzzles? Here is a simple one for them to complete for Earth Day!
#10. Happy Earth Day – Educational Video
Here is an 18-minute video for kids about Earth Day from the SciShow Kids Channel!
#11. Earth Day Song from Jack Hartmann
Here is a fun song for your younger ones for today!
#12. Does Trash Last Forever? Mystery Science
