It’s Grinch Day!
My kids and I love today – we especially love watching the 2018 version of, “The Grinch”. See below for all my plans for today!
Are you visiting for the first time? You are still able to grab my free Christmas school calendar! You can download it below and you can also join our Christmas School FB group here 🙂 It is full of the most wonderful mommas!
Each special day on the calendar will get it’s own blog post – full of activity directions, printables, YouTube audiobook stories, and anything else to help make this EASY on you. Because the whole point of Christmas School is to pick what your kids would enjoy the most and then just have fun together. Don’t plan to do EVERYTHING (unless you guys are feeling ambitious that day 😉 ).

Day #11. Grinch Day!
Here is what we are planning to do on Friday 🙂
Just a reminder that my kids are in 4th, 2nd, and PreK grades. If you have different ages and feel like what we are doing isn’t something your kids would be interested in, feel free to scroll below! I’ll add more activity ideas at the bottom of each blog post.
Activities
Today we will be making a simple Grinch ornament, doing a Grinchy themed science experiment, rolling some dice for a creative writing activity, and watching, “The Grinch”!
#1. Make a Grinch Ornament!
You know those clear bulbs from the Dollar Tree? This is a cute craft to make with them!
#2. Grinch & Cheer (Roll-A-Dice Poem Activity)
For this creative writing activity, your kids will need this printable and some dice. There are FIVE missing words in the poem…students will roll a dice to find the word that matches the number they rolled and write that in the poem!
#3. Grow the Grinch’s Heart Experiment
We’re going to use baking soda and vinegar to make the Grinch’s heart grow! I made these worksheets to go along with the experiment. It includes step-by-step instructions and a supply list too!
I also found this video that explains how to do the experiment – you can watch it below if you’d like 😊
Snack
Today I’ll be using green grapes, whipped cream, strawberries, and mini marshmallows to make Grinch kabobs! Photo and recipe ideas is from All Recipes.
Books
(Note: I only skimmed these books, so be sure to skim it also if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today we’ll be watching “The Grinch” as a family later! The newest version is my favorite 😊
We’ll also be reading, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss before we watch the movie. I also found this cute, little book about Max (the Grinch’s dog) that I know my boys will like.
Here are the YouTube Read Aloud links for these books 🙂
Do You Have More Time? Here Are Some Extra Ideas!
#1. Have a family movie night and watch “The Grinch”!
#2. Learn about the history of Dr. Seuss!
#3. Draw the Grinch with this tutorial from Art for Kids Hub!
I hope you guys have a wonderful day! I can’t wait to see everything you and your kids create and do! Check back soon for my Silly Santa Day post 🙂
