I’ll confess: I’m a big kid when it comes to jellybeans. It’s not something we have often, but when we do, I love trying out all the unique flavors along with the kids!

Day #9. Jelly Bean Day!

#1. Jelly Bean Rainbow Experiment
Using this worksheet, a white plate, jellybeans, and warm water you and your student can create some pretty rainbow colors!
#2. Jelly Bean STEM Cards
Using the smaller, softer jellybeans (the big ones are a little hard to do this with) and toothpicks, create shapes & structures! I made these STEM cards to provide a little inspiration and to get their minds thinking of what else they could build.
#3. Fingerprint Jelly Bean Jar Art Project
After printing out this printable on cardstock, your students can paint the lid and then use their fingers to create jellybeans inside the jar! Students could also use Q-tips to dab on paint if they prefer instead. My youngest HATES fingerpainting, so I always know that I have to include a “non-messy” option! 😅
Snack
Today’s snack could be really simple: just let your kids have some jellybeans! Or you could make some sugar cookies together and let them add some jellybeans to the batter. I know what you’re thinking…my husband was thinking the same thing when he saw me testing it out (“WHAT are you doing?!”)…but my kids thought it was the coolest idea, so that’s all that matters! 😂
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
Today we’ll be reading, “My Magnificent Jelly Bean Tree” by Maura Finn and “The Jellybean Tree” by Jill Eggleton and Ricky Rumsey.
However, if you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are the read aloud options on YouTube!
