“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes…” 1st Corinthians 13:4-8
Today is all about HOPE and what it means to be hopeful.
Are you new to Valentine School 2024? No worries! You can learn more about it here and join our Valentine School FB group as well🙂 If you need to print out the Valentine School Calendar, scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!
Keep reading below for more about Love Hopes Day!
Day #11. Love Hopes Day!
Here is some of what we have planned for today! 🙂 If you purchased the Valentine School bundle, there are discussion questions included for each day. I recommend reading those beforehand or while you’re waiting on an experiment or doing an art activity!
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: These printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only until Love Hopes Day is over! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do Love Hopes Day later in the week – that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! 🥰❤️
#1. Grow a Crystal Heart Science Experiment
Grab this worksheet and follow the instructions to make some beautiful crystal hearts! Your students can experiment with creating different colored pipe cleaners and/or adding food coloring to change the colors. You’ll want to wait at least 24 hours to let the crystals form.
As you do the experiment, emphasize how you are HOPING to see the crystals form. You can use this activity as a visual exercise for your students to understand what it means and feels like to hope for things we cannot see.
#2. Glitter & Hope Art Activity
Doves are a common symbol for hope! Use these heart & dove templates to create some glitter art. Your students will want to cut out the hearts and doves. Next, place them on a piece of paper (they could gently tape it down to hold it in place) and cover the outside edges with glue. Sprinkle glitter over the glue. Finally, remove the templates to reveal a pretty glue outline.
#3. Crayon Resist Heart Art
Have your kids done crayon resist art before? If they haven’t (or if they have and love it), you can do this simple painting project! You’ll just need a piece of cardstock (or painting paper), white crayon, and watercolors.
You can have your students first draw some hearts on the paper with the white crayon. They could also add other designs too.
Once they are finished, they’ll paint the paper with watercolors, which will reveal the hearts!
Snack
Here is the snack for today! You can use mini pretzels, melting white chocolate wafers, and pink sugar crystals to create tiny “crystal hearts”. 🩷
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
Today we’ll be reading, “Little Mole Finds Hope” by Glenys Nellist and “Hope” by Kealy Connor Lonning.
However, if you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are some read aloud options on YouTube!
Do You Have Extra Time? Here Are Some Ideas/Videos!
Pick and choose any of the videos/activities below to learn more!
#1. Want to add on a mini-Bible lesson/devotional? Here is another video from Douglas Talks.
#2. Do your kids enjoy drawing? Here is a crystal drawing tutorial from Art for Kids Hub!
I hope (haha – no pun intended) that your kids enjoyed learning about what it means to hope! 🩷 If you need to print out the Valentine Calendar still, drop your email below and I’ll send it right over!
