Today is about how important it is to have a giving heart. When we have a giving heart, we are more focused on others instead of ourselves. I do recommend making sure that your kiddos know it is also still important to take care of ourselves too. You can’t really serve others well if you aren’t making sure you are healthy, strong, and able to do so in the first place!
Are you new to Valentine School 2024? No worries! You can learn more about it here and join our Valentine School FB group as well🙂 If you need to print out the Valentine School Calendar, scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!

Day #7. Love is Giving Day!
Here is some of what we are planning to do on Tuesday! 🙂 If you purchased the Valentine School bundle, there are discussion questions included for each day. I recommend reading those beforehand or while you’re waiting on an experiment or doing an art activity!
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: These printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only until Love is Giving Day is over! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do Love is Giving Day later in the week – that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! 🥰❤️
#1. Dancing Candy Hearts Science Experiment
Do you have some leftover candy hearts from Valentine’s Day? This is a really simple and fun experiment! I couldn’t really get a good picture of the hearts in the jar, but they really look so cool as they dance around! This is a great time to talk about how giving to others actually brings OUR hearts so much joy, that it can feel like our hearts are dancing too. ❤️
#2. Kandinsky-Inspired Heart Art Project
Students will use this printable and watercolor paint to create their own Kandinsky-inspired heart art!
#3. Be a Bucket Filler Craft
After reading (or listening) to, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?”, use this printable to create your own bucket craft ❤️
Snack
The snack for today is whatever you have that you can fit into a “little bucket”! I grabbed these clear cups from the dollar tree, drew a little face on the side, punched a hole at the top, and put a pipe cleaner through it (for the handle). I used popcorn when I took photos of this, but you could use anything that your kids would like.
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
Today we’ll be reading, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” by Carol McCloud and, “How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids” by Tom Rath.
If you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are some read aloud options on YouTube!
Do You Have Extra Time? Here Are Some Ideas/Videos!
Pick and choose any of the videos/activities below to learn more!
#1. The opposite of focusing on others is being focused on yourself. Would you like a little Bible lesson for today on how love isn’t self-seeking? Here is another video from Douglas Talks. I suggest skimming it first, to make sure you agree with the message.
#2. To continue the bucket theme, here is a cute drawing tutorial!
I hope your kids enjoyed learning how important it is to give to others! 🩷 If you need to print out the Valentine Calendar still, drop your email below and I’ll send it right over!
