You can’t have spring without all the mud and puddles everywhere! If your kids are like my middle child, they LOVE it! But if they are like my oldest and youngest, maybe today will make mud a little more appealing from now on. 😂
Are you new to these monthly themes? No worries! You can join our FB group and print out the April School Calendar to get started! Just scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!

Activity Ideas
#1. Use Mud to Paint!
Have your students ever painted with mud? Grab some old paintbrushes, paper, and mud and encourage them to get creative!
#2. Make Some Nature Cakes or Mud Pies!
Grab some muffin pans and encourage your students create their own mud cakes!
#3. Become a Puddle Hunter!
Become a puddle hunter for the day (if the weather allows) and search for puddles to jump in! Preferably do this after reading the book, “Puddle Hunters” or listening to the read aloud for the book below.
#4. Read & Hang Up Vocabulary Cards
Did you grab the Spring School bundle? You can read the vocabulary words for today and color in the word (optional). Hang up the vocabulary words on the wall or display board. The vocabulary words for today are: Puddle, Mud, and Raindrop.
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
Today we’ll be reading, “Puddle Hunters” by Kirsty Murray, “Mud! A Picture Book” by Annie Bailey, and “A Mud Pie for Mother” by Scott Beck.
However, if you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are the read aloud options on YouTube!
PS: If you have an older child, I recommend having them read 1-2 chapters from, “Charlotte’s Web” today!
