Here is part two of my blog series for our All About Me Unit Study!
I’m so excited to continue our All About Me Unit Study! Recognizing and celebrating what makes every person special and unique is SO important! The fact that many of these projects make AWESOME keepsakes to look back on makes this that much more awesome!
This activity will work for many grades and can be used in your homeschool OR in a classroom setting. I used this in both our homeschool preschool co-op class (with 8 students) and at home with my preschooler, second grader, and fourth grader.

Self-Portrait Painting
This is such a fun project to do every year! It turns into a beautiful keepsake. I love comparing the difference between the self-portraits my kids did in preschool to now. This simple outline gives some structure and guidance, but allows kids the freedom to get really creative with how they place their eyes, nose, mouth, etc.
You can grab the free printable below by entering your email address and clicking the “download now” button!
If you are using this as a painting project, make sure to print this template out on heavy cardstock. You can also regular paper and just let them color their self-portrait with markers, colored pencils, crayons, etc.
Or if your kids would prefer, you can laminate this sheet and let them create their face with playdoh!
As you can see, my kids really enjoyed doing this too 🙂
After drying, be sure to tuck away these projects somewhere safe! It’ll be so fun to pull them out years down the road and compare the progress your student has made in their ability to create a self-portrait 🙂
Feel free to comment and share a photo of your students using this template! I would absolutely LOVE to see what they create 🙂
Do you need some other fun projects for your “All About Me” unit study? You can check out this mini book craft over at my TPT shop! This was another project that I originally only made for my preschooler, but my older kids loved doing it too!
