Only one more week until Christmas!
Does your family include Santa into your traditions? Whether or not you do, today is great for learning about the history St. Nicholas and just having fun! ❤️
Today we’ll be doing a Santa painting, making a Silly Santa headband craft, creating a flipbook, and learning about the history of St. Nicholas! Keep on scrolling below to see all of my ideas and plans for today!
PS: if you have little ones who believe in Santa, make sure to be prepared for questions before watching any video about St. Nicholas (it may or may not spark some questions). You can always skip that part of today if you want to avoid that. 😊
Are you visiting for the first time? You are still able to grab my free Christmas school calendar! You can download it below and you can also join our Christmas School FB group here 🙂 It is full of the most wonderful mommas!
Each special day on the calendar will get it’s own blog post – full of activity directions, printables, YouTube audiobook stories, and anything else to help make this EASY on you. Because the whole point of Christmas School is to pick what your kids would enjoy the most and then just have fun together. Don’t plan to do EVERYTHING (unless you guys are feeling ambitious that day 😉 ).

Day #12. Silly Santa Day!
Here is what we are planning to do on Monday 🙂
Just a reminder that my kids are in 4th, 2nd, and PreK grades. If you have different ages and feel like what we are doing isn’t something your kids would be interested in, feel free to scroll below! I’ll add more activity ideas at the bottom of each blog post.
Activities
#1. Santa Painting!
Here are 5 different templates for the kiddos to paint or color!
#2. Or Make a Silly Santa Headband Craft
If your kids would rather do a craft instead of painting, try making this!
You could glue cotton balls or crumpled white crepe paper onto the beard, to give it more of a beard appearance too!
I think if you color the mouth, it kind of looks like Santa is sticking his tongue out, which makes this a little extra silly.
#3. “Santa Is Stuck!” Flipbook – Writing Activity
If you read the book, “Santa’s Stuck!” (or listen to it below), this activity is great to do afterwards! Students will write what they would do if Santa got stuck using the words, “FIRST, NEXT, THEN, & LAST” to guide them.
Snack
Today I’ll be using strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate chips, and some red sprinkles to make these little Santa snacks! You can find the recipe here. She makes it a little different, with a cheesecake pudding filling (which probably tastes amazing), but I’m just going to make it easier by doing whipped cream instead.
Books
(Note: I only skimmed these books, so be sure to skim it also if you want to make sure it’s something your family values align with).
Today we’ll be reading, “Careful Santa” by Julia Sykes, “Santa’s Stuck” by Rhonda Gowler Greene, and “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement Moore.
Here are the YouTube Read Aloud links for these books 🙂
Do You Have More Time? Here Are Some Extra Ideas!
#1. Watch your favorite movie about Santa Clause as a family!
#2. Print out the first template from these Santa face templates and use crumpled crepe paper and glue to create a 3D art craft! Great project for little ones 😊
#3. Have little ones? Watch this short interactive “Silly Santa” song over on YouTube!
#4. Draw Santa Claus with this tutorial from Art for Kids Hub!
#5. Watch this video for kids about the history of St. Nicholas.
***This may or may not bring up questions about Santa, so please keep that in mind depending on the age of your kids and family traditions/beliefs!
I hope you guys have a wonderful day! I can’t wait to see everything you and your kids create and do! Check back soon for my Reindeer Day post 🙂
