#1. From Seeds to Plants: Watch a Seed Sprout!
I recommend watching this video from SciShow Kids Channel before beginning the activities for today!
#2. Color or Paint “Watch My Plant Grow” Page for Today!
Cut out the pages in this PDF for today and color or paint! If using watercolors, have your student trace the lines with a black crayon before painting. If you have older kids, do the next version of this activity instead.
#3. Draw the “Watch My Plant Grow” Page for Today!
Do you have older students? Cut out the pages in this PDF for today and draw instead of coloring or painting the above illustration. Watch the drawing video below if your student needs guidance.
#4. Go On a Nature Hunt for Sprouts!
Take a magnifying glass and go on a hunt for plants that are just sprouting up!
#5. Watch Seeds Sprouting
Watch this short clip of different seeds sprouting!
#6. Themed Snack Idea
While you read (or listen to) the books below, have the garden themed snack idea below! Have your students
ever tried eating sprouts? Today would be a great day to do so! You can buy some from the store or start your own!
#7. Read or Listen to a Book!
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
While you enjoy snack time, wrap things up with a garden-inspired book! You’re welcome to read any of the suggested books in the Garden School bundle, but at our house today we’ll be reading, ”A Seed is Sleepy” by Dianna Aston.
If you were unable to grab the book from the library or store, here is the read aloud option on YouTube!
Do you have older kids? I suggest having them read 1-2 chapters from, “The Secret Garden”!
