Today we’ll be learning all about St. Patrick and why we celebrate him every year on March 17th!
You might notice that I’m posting these blogs a little bit earlier than normal this week (I’m just trying to get ahead of myself haha!). Many of these printables will still be offered for free (like normal) for 24 hours during special themed days, but until then (or until I have time to list them individually over on my TPT shop), the link will take you to the activity pack. 😊
Are you new to these monthly themes? No worries! You can join our FB group and print out the March School Calendar to get started! Just scroll to the bottom of this post and pop your email in so I can send it to you!
Keep reading below for St. Patrick’s Day activities and printables!
Day #5. St. Patrick’s Day!
Here is some of what we have planned for today! 🙂 Did you want to download and print out everything for this week all at once? You can! Grab the St. Patrick’s Day Activity Pack here!
Activities
IMPORTANT NOTE: These printable activities will be FREE for you to download, but only until St. Patrick’s Day (Friday, March 15th) is over! So, make sure to download them even if you are going to do St. Patrick’s Day later in the week – that way you can still snag them for free. If you could leave a review behind afterwards, that would be amazing too! THANK YOU!! 🥰❤️
#1. Paper Towel Rainbow Science Experiment
Grab this worksheet, paper towel, two glasses of water, and washable markers (you’ll need the colors of the rainbow).
I’m sure you’ve seen the walking rainbow experiment. This is an easier and faster experiment using just two glasses and one thin strip of paper towel. Use the worksheet above for directions and writing your child’s hypothesis and results.
First, have your kids color both ends of a thin piece of paper towel in the pattern of the rainbow. Make sure the same colors line up across from each other (see photo below).
After you’ve finished coloring, place both ends of the paper towel in the water.
Wait and observe to see if your hypothesis was correct!
#2. I Am So Lucky (Blessed) Shamrock Craft
Use the blank template in this printable for your kids to write down things that they feel lucky to have. There is also a, “I Am So Blessed” version as well (for those who don’t like to use the word “lucky”).
After your kids have finished writing down their blessings, have them cut out the shamrock and glue to a piece of construction paper.
Now they can color and cut out the shamrock and glue it on top. Once they are finished, they can peel back the shamrock leaves to see their answers!
#3. “Who Was St. Patrick?” Mini Book (Activity Pack Bonus)
If you happened to grab the St. Patrick’s Day Activity Pack, you can have your kids cut out and assemble the mini-book for today! Students can also color each page, if they would like. 😊
PS: THANK YOU so much for grabbing the activity pack. I appreciate your support so much!
Snack
Do your kids like smoothies? I have a green smoothie planned for my kids today. This is a healthy version, but if your kids want something sweeter, you could attempt a mint shake instead.
For this smoothie, I used 1 cup of banana, 1 cup of pineapple (mango might be good too), and a bunch of spinach (I would say about 2 cups), 1/2 cup of milk, and 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder.
Books
(Note: Everyone has different book standards! I highly suggest skimming through any books before reading them to your kids, just to make sure it aligns with your family values first) 🩷
Today we’ll be reading, “Patrick: Patron Saint of Ireland” by Tomie dePaola, “The Story of Saint Patrick’s Day” by Patricia A. Pingry, and “The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day” by Natasha Wing.
However, if you were unable to grab these books from the library or store, here are the read aloud options on YouTube!
