WOW, it’s been awhile since I sat down to write a new blog post! How are you all doing? How was your second half of winter and spring? Ours felt like a roller coaster, which is why it’s been so long since I’ve been on here. My energy and focus were needed elsewhere, so this poor little blog of mine took the back burner for a bit. It feels good to be back! And I’m so excited to share these NEW reading printables with you all!
Have you been needing a fun way to motivate your kids to read this summer too? This Sweet Treats Summer Reading Pack is what I made for my kids to use. One of my summer goals is to build some good reading habits, spark book discussions, and boost their writing skills! If you have similar goals and want a fun summer-themed reading challenge, you can do this with us!

What’s Included:
This summer reading pack includes 6 sweet-themed resources designed to make reading a daily habit—without it feeling like schoolwork hopefully! You can take a closer look at everything in the pack below! ⬇️

1. Sweet-Themed Bookmarks to Color
This set includes three printable bookmark designs—each one decorated with fun summer treats! Kids can color their own or choose from the pre-colored versions. These cut-and-color bookmarks are the perfect way to kick off your sweet-treat reading challenge!
Tip: Print on cardstock and laminate to make them last all summer. Let kids pick a different one for each new book to keep them excited about reading time!

2. Summer Book Logs (with Fun Rating System)
Skip the boring stars and have your child rate each book with an ice cream cone or popsicle stick! These visual reading logs help kids keep track of what they’ve read while making it fun with this summer theme! Available with regular or handwriting lines, you can track up to 15 books vertically. I also made a horizontal version to track up to 10 books that allows wider writing space (for younger students).
Tip: Use this at the end of each book your child finishes. Keep the pages in a summer folder or display them on the wall to show off their progress!

3. Sweet Treats Reading Trackers
This pack includes 8 tracker designs to choose from! Kids will color a summer treat for every day they read, book finished, or 30-minutes of reading time they complete!
- 7-day and 10-day bookmark-style trackers
- 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, and 90-day coloring sheet trackers
Like mentioned above, each one can be used to either track days read, books completed, or 30-minute reading blocks. Depending on what you pick, you will be able to use different ones throughout the summer!
Tip: Let your child choose their own challenge and proudly hang their tracker on the fridge or inside a summer binder to stay motivated! Reward them with a certificate (see below) and a trip to an ice cream shop or their favorite treat!

4. Book Scoop (My Book Report Template)
This is a one-page printable book report to help kids organize their thoughts and reflect on what they’ve read! They’ll fill out:
- Book title, author, and date
- Rating (with either ice cream cones or popsicles!)
- Characters and setting
- Beginning, middle, and ending summaries
- Favorite part of the story
Includes both handwriting line and regular line versions for flexibility!
Tip: Use this after each book your child reads to build comprehension, recall, and writing fluency. It’s a simple way to turn reading time into meaningful learning. I recommend printing one out for each book that they read and compiling the reports together for their grade portfolio.

5. Character Cone Trait Analysis
Help your child reflect on characters with this fun printable! Students write the character’s name at the top of the cone. They will then choose five one-word traits to write inside the cone. Then they complete a “cherry on top” reflection, choosing their favorite trait and explaining why it stood out to them.
Also includes a coloring version with extra cones for younger or more artistic students, and both regular and handwriting line options.
Tip: Use this after a read-aloud or chapter book. It’s a great conversation starter and encourages deeper reading comprehension.

6. Themed Reading Certificates
Celebrate your reader’s accomplishments with fun, colorful certificates! Includes 5 different designs with two versions of each:
- A pre-filled “for” section that celebrates their sweet reading success
- A blank version so you can personalize the award
Tip: Use these certificates after finishing a tracker, completing a certain number of books, or reaching a big summer reading goal. Host a “reading celebration” at home with a treat!
Bonus Items – Only in the Bundle!

You can purchase these printables individually, BUT when you grab the Sweet Treats Summer Reading Pack, you’ll save almost 60% and unlock two exclusive bonuses:
